| NASHVILLE, TN – Adtec Digital showcases its digital television (DTV) distribution and ad insertion solutions at the Community Broadcasters Association Convention, Oct. 10-12 in Las Vegas, Nev.
"Adtec has the ability to deliver solutions for customers with a diversity of needs," Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Ron Johnson, said. "We will offer hands-on opportunities to experience our scalable, cost-effective, DTV delivery solutions and digital ad insertion solutions." Adtec's DTV distribution solutions include the edje-2100 Real Time MPEG 2 encoder, supporting MUSICAM and optionally Dolby Digital (AC-3) audio, and the edje-3000 transport stream media multiplexer, delivering a DVB/ASI compliant MPTS to a QAM modulator and set-top, utilizing Irdeto Access's CA system. "Adtec developed and is displaying the enterprise middleware solution for managing Amino IP set tops using the Adtec digital headend including the edje-2100 series Real Time encoders, edje-3000 series ASI multiplexer and DTA-3150 or DTA-3250 turnaround multiplexer," Cable and Broadcast Sales Manager, Scott Pierce, said. "All models on Adtec's multiplexer product line have the ability to route MPEG transport streams over a GIGE interface for digital television applications." Adtec is also displaying its Duet MPEG 2 Commercial Inserter at CBA. "The Duet offers scalable architecture, allowing users to add channels as needed and an agile internal baseband demodulator, reducing or eliminating the need for external interfaces," Dealer Sales Manager, Jon Kipp, said. "The Duet can pass a channel, select a network source or cue source, load spot inventory and use drag-and-drop software to build a schedule." The Duet provides local storage for thousands of MPEG 2 commercials and extremely smooth frame accurate transitions from networks to commercials. It inserts digital-into analog or optionally, digital-into-digital (Duet-SDI). Adtec also introduces the award-winning Soloist HD Digital Media Server, a product combining the functions of a digital video recorder, player, switcher and server in one device. The Soloist HD Digital Media Server was given a Sound and Video Contractor Pick Hit Award at Infocomm 2004. "The product offers users powerful features including multiple-layer with multiple-region text and graphic overlays, advanced video scaling and broadcast time delay (time shifting)," President, Kevin Ancelin, said. "The innovative two slot design allows for implementation of one of each encoder and decoder module or two of an encoder or decoder, providing flexibility in a system configuration." The S3DMS offers automated Real Time MPEG 1 and 2 encoding from analog or Serial Digital (SDI) sources as well as Real Time transcoding of DV formats from non-linear editors through IEEE 1394 (Firewire). The S3DMS supports new and future compression CODEC devices, making the appliance economically sound. "We expect the product to have a broad appeal across a wide range of markets, including production and post-production, entertainment, digital signage, surveillance, news gathering and narrow market television," Johnson said. "The applications for the S3DMS are endless. An advertising agency can manage a national retail chain's digital signage network directly from their production studio. A cable or broadcast channel can integrate local origination programming such as church services, city council meetings or sports events, into their line-up, either live or stored for later playback."
