Adtec Showcases Television Over IP Solutions at GV Expo 2004

NASHVILLE, TN –     Adtec Digital will showcase its new television over IP solutions including digital television delivery solutions, secure satellite delivery and digital ad insertion solutions at the Government Video Technology Expo in Washington, D.C., Oct. 6 and 7.
"Adtec has the ability to deliver solutions for customers with a diversity of needs," Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Ron Johnson, said. "We will offer hands-on opportunities to experience our scalable, cost-effective, digital television delivery solutions, secure IP distribution and digital ad-insertion solutions."
Adtec is displaying its DTA-3150 and DTA-3250 Digital Turn Around Media Routers designed for digital television and IP backhaul applications.
The DTA multiplexers include two QPSK receivers with CACI interface for descrambling and routing ASI and DVB-S feeds and output ASI and IP concurrently.
The 3250, designed for use in the United States, is equipped with two 8VSB receivers for processing ATSC signals and also includes SMPTE 310M inputs and outputs. The 3150, designed for the international market, also includes two DVB-T receivers. Both models output multiplexed ASI and IP streams over a Gigabit Ethernet interface.
"The DTA-3150 and DTA-3250 can interface to middleware management solutions and is an integral part for any IP headend deployment for cable, satellite, corporate and hospitality markets," Cable and Broadcast Sales Manager, Scott Pierce, said. "Adtec has developed and is displaying our enterprise middleware solution for managing Amino IP set tops using the Adtec digital headend including the 2100 series Real Time encoders, 3000 series ASI multiplexer and 3150 or 3250 turnaround multiplexer."
All models on Adtec's multiplexer product line have the ability to route MPEG transport streams over a GIGE interface for digital television applications.
Adtec is also displaying its digital ad insertion solutions including Digital into Analog (DIA), Digital into Digital (DID) and Digital into Transport (DIT).
DIT as a solution is new for Adtec, although Adtec helped author the SCTE 30 and SCTE 35 standards, defining the splicing of transport streams nearly four years ago.
Adtec is showcasing the DPI-1200 DIT ad server, designed to simultaneously insert up to twelve programs into a digital cable or digital television service.
"By supporting analog switched, digital uncompressed switched and transport-level insertion or splicing, Adtec is positioned to support global broadband operators' ad insertion needs, regardless of their distribution method," Pierce said. "Adtec's single-rack unit DPI-1200 is ideally suited to serve the multi-channel cable market, as well as the broadcast market by interfacing with Terayon's CherryPicker DM 3200Ad Splicer."
Adtec is also displaying its Traffic and Billing Gateway Server (TBGS).
"The TBGS allows seamless integration with a variety of popular analog and digital ad insertion systems," Pierce said. "The real value of the TBGS is its ability to unite with the DPI-1200 into any system, facilitating deployment of DIT."
Adtec is displaying its secure satellite solution, a complete, encrypted, subscription management system.
"It boasts live IP-based MPEG distribution, secure AES-based encryption without a smart card, store and forward media and schedule distribution via FCMP of local media switches, utilizing 'cues' injected by Adtec's edje-2100 Real Time MPEG 2 encoder," Pierce said.
Adtec Digital designs and manufactures innovative technology for digital television delivery, IP streaming, commercial insertion, and multimedia digital video applications.
