| NASHVILLE, TN – Adtec Digital's edje-1013 digital video players are synchronizing five screens of a traveling exhibit and art film created by fashion designer and artist, Hussein Chalayan. The video-art display, designed by systems integrators Trimedia Broadcast and ADI Audiovisual, overlays live action onto a virtual reality world. "The film is a spectacular application for this technology," ADI Audiovisual's Mark Wayman said. "To achieve the desired result, we needed perfect synchronization between our five outputs. The solution using Adtec's edje players rather than DVD is simple to set-up and robust. This is important for a show that will be traveling extensively." Adtec's edje-1013 is designed for integration into global multimedia networks and facilitates dynamic MPEG and Bitmap audiovisual presentations without the use of a personal computer. The film features an androgynous figure cocooned in a futuristic pod-like vehicle, created at the BAR Formula 1 factory, moving in a relentless cycle through urban cities, surreal landscapes and an icy wilderness. Different outlooks, angles and flashbacks of memories, including the pod speeding around the circle from screen to screen, are viewed by the observer. "The content is projected onto the screens arranged in a 12-meter diameter circle," Trimedia's Managing Director, John Donovan, said. "The display integrates five separate videos showing different aspects of the composition and the observer views the work from inside the circle for a phenomenal wrap-around experience." One Adtec edje unit acts as a master with the others locked to its internal clock, ensuring perfect, frame-accurate synchronization. "The technical challenge was to project the videos onto the screen with perfect synchronization required for the special effects," Donovan said. "Adtec's edje was the solution. It allows a higher bit rate than DVD and communicates without the need for an external synchronizer." Trimedia designed a wireless remote control allowing for easy playback control such as pausing the images for photography. The 12-minute video display, curated by Artwise, is set to tour Utrecht, Berlin, New York, Jakarta and Athens and forms part of Hussein's major retrospective show at the Groningen Museum in the Netherlands. The work is commissioned by Tribe Art and sponsored by the Lucky Strike BAR Honda racing team. ADi Audiovisual is located in the UK.
