| NASHVILLE, TN – Dutch cable operator, CAIW, is using Adtec Digital products to offer their digital cable TV package. CAIW, first in the world to introduce cable-powered internet and the first pan-European cable operator to explore ad insertion, recently integrated Adtec's edje-2100 encoders into a digital headend project and for exploration of IPTV options. "The Adtec units are used for local, regional and national stations' encoding, converting an analog feed into DVB-ASI and MPEG over IP streams from remote locations," Systems Integrator Add-2-Ad/Adtec Northern Europe President, Ferry Ouwendijk, said. "The ability to combine DVB-ASI and IP is of great interest to cable operators including CAIW." Adtec's edje-3000 multiplexer can combine DVB-ASI inputs with Adtec's Soloist 2-ASI transport stream server, the edje-2100 with streaming MPEG over IP, satellite receivers or ASI encoders of any brand. Output is then generated as DVB-ASI and MPEG/DVB-ASI over IP. "Adtec products allow you to cost-effectively build a digital headend out of ten channels including the multiplexer, for the price of what one broadcast encoder of traditional brands used to cost," Ferry Ouwendijk, said.
