| NASHVILLE, TN – Fox affiliate WGHP-TV channel 8, serving the Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem, N.C. area, recently installed Adtec's edje-2110-2 SDI encoder for transmission of digital video. "One of our other stations had purchased an Adtec encoder and spoke highly of its ability to work and its affordable price range," WGHP's Transmitter Supervisor, Charles Layno said. "We are very pleased with the ease of operation of the unit and its reliability. We've had no problems whatsoever. Support from Adtec has been better than superb." Adtec's edje-2110-2 encoder, supporting two Dolby Digital audio channels, is encoding Serial Digital video with embedded AES-EBU audio in Real Time and sending an MPEG 2 transport stream to the cable headend and the digital transmitter. "Our aim was to run an analog back-up fiber optic link from our station to the local cable headend with an ASI digital run to interface with their ASI backbone system," Layno said. "In addition to providing an analog signal, it also allowed a path for our separate HDTV digital signal to ride along the fiber to the cable headend. We also wanted a backup SD encoder for our digital station if we had a failure of the main HD encoder."
