Adtec Innovative DTV, Ad Insertion, Multimedia Solutions at IBC
NASHVILLE, TN –     Adtec Digital will introduce its new digital television delivery solutions, new IP streaming/multimedia solutions and digital ad insertion solutions at IBC in Amsterdam, Sept. 10-14.
"Adtec has the ability to deliver solutions for customers with a diversity of needs," Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Ron Johnson, said. "We will offer hands-on opportunities to experience our scalable, cost-effective, digital television delivery solutions, secure IP distribution and digital ad-insertion solutions."
Adtec will introduce the edje-3100 and edje-3200 multiplexers designed for digital television and IP backhaul applications.
The edje-3100 and the edje-3200 include two QPSK receivers with CACI interface for descrambling and routing ASI and DVB-S feeds, and output ASI and IP concurrently.
The 3100, designed for the international market, also includes two DVB-T receivers. The 3200, designed for use in the United States, is equipped with two 8VSB receivers for processing ATSC signals and also includes SMPTE 310M inputs and outputs. Both models output multiplexed ASI and IP streams over a Gigabit Ethernet interface.
"The edje-3100 and edje-3200 can interface to middleware management solutions and is an integral part for any IP headend deployment for cable, satellite, corporate and hospitality markets," Sales Engineer, Michael Bush, said. "Adtec has developed and will be displaying their enterprise middleware solution for managing Amino IP set tops using the Adtec digital headend, including the 2100 series Real Time encoders, 3000 series ASI multiplexer and 3100 or 3200 turnaround multiplexer."
All models on Adtec's multiplexer product line have the ability to route MPEG transport streams over a GIGE interface for digital television applications.
Adtec will also exhibit digital ad-insertion solutions including Digital into Analog (DIA), Digital into Digital (DID) and Digital into Transport (DIT).
DIT as a solution is new for Adtec, although Adtec helped author the SCTE 30 and SCTE 35 standards, defining the splicing of transport streams nearly four years ago.
Adtec will introduce the DPI-1200 Digital into Transport (DIT) Ad server, designed to simultaneously insert up to twelve programs into a digital cable or digital television service.
Adtec will demonstrate the Traffic and Billing Gateway Server (TBGS) at IBC.
"The TBGS allows seamless integration with a variety of popular analog and digital ad insertion systems," Cable and Broadcast Sales Manager, Scott Pierce said. "The real value of the TBGS is that it facilitates easy distribution and management of commercial content via a Wide Area Network."
Adtec will debut its second generation edje-PDP digital video player and network appliance designed to fit inside the Pioneer's fourth generation PureVision Plasma displays.
Adtec will also introduce the Soloist HD Digital Media Server, a product combining the functions of a digital video recorder, player, switcher and server in one device.
"The product offers users powerful features including multiple-layer with multiple-region text and graphic overlays, advanced video scaling and broadcast time delay (time shifting)," President, Kevin Ancelin, said. "The innovative two slot design allows for implementation of one of each encoder and decoder module or two of an encoder or decoder, providing flexibility in a system configuration."
The S3DMS offers automated Real Time MPEG 1 and 2 encoding from analog or Serial Digital (SDI) sources as well as Real Time transcoding of DV formats from non-linear editors through IEEE 1394 (Firewire).
The S3DMS supports new and future compression CODEC devices, making the appliance economically sound.
"We expect the product to have a broad appeal across a wide range of markets, including production and post-production, entertainment, digital signage, surveillance, news gathering and narrow market television," Johnson said. "The applications for the S3DMS are endless. An advertising agency can manage a national retail chain's digital signage network directly from their production studio. A cable or broadcast channel can integrate local origination programming such as church services, city council meetings or sports events, into their line-up, either live or stored for later playback."
