NASHVILLE, TN – CineMagic Media Studios recently installed Adtec's edje digital video players to create a digital cinema solution for their Midwest theater clients. Adtec's edje-1013 and edje-DVD are controlling scheduling and playback of pre-show entertainment including advertisements and trivia. "Adtec provides true digital technology and satisfies our goal of delivering pre-show entertainment," CMS Executive Director, Scott Boyd, said. "We are able to deliver advertising, fun facts, trivia and community focus information seamlessly to a captive audience." CineMagic Media Studios produces new content and sends it to each theater. The content is delivered in any format from storage media such as a CD, or directly through VPN connection. The content is then loaded into the edje-DVD, where the files are copied to the hard drive. "These MPEG 2 files in the form of advertisements and trivia are sent over IP to each individual edje-1013 unit," Adtec Field Applications Engineer, Mike Armstrong, said. "The edje-1013 is triggered to turn on an LCD projector to play the ads and trivia when the film ends and the projector is powered off. When it is time for the movie to begin and the film projector turns on, the edje-1013 sends a command to turn the LCD projector off. " Each advertisement and trivia will play the content in a shuffled format before the movie begins. "We've structured the system to allow an unlimited number of advertisements and trivia to be added," Armstrong said. "This is ideal for CineMagic because it is more efficient for them and more interesting to the movie theater patron because the viewer doesn't have to watch the same content in the same order every time they come to see a show."
