NASHVILLE, TN – Beach TV, a visitor information television network based in Panama City, Fla., recently acquired three of Adtec Digital's edje 2100 digital television ("DTV") encoders to support their television stations in Atlanta, Ga., Destin, Fla., and Panama City, Fla. Due to the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) upcoming conversion requirement, broadcasters like Beach TV are switching from analog technology to DTV. Current over-the-air analog signal providers must deliver MPEG2-based digital signals concurrent with their analog signals until the end of 2006. At that point, analog signals must cease. According to the FCC, the DTV transition will increase efficient use of the spectrum, expand consumer choice for video programming and increase the amount of spectrum available for public safety and other wireless services.
