NASHVILLE, TN – Adtec Digital's edje-2100 is running a daily news contribution backhaul from local CBS affiliate KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh to CBS corporate headquarters in New York for broadcast on the network. The edje-2100 was selected for this project by Pittsburgh International Telecommunications (PIT) for use in its mobile video uplink vehicle. The edje-2100 captures live news in real time as an MPEG 2 transport stream that is output via a DVB signal and sent over the satellite. "We tested the Adtec equipment and CBS approved the quality," PIT Video Products Manager, Bill Sciolla, said. "We also broadcast daily for other major networks like CNN and NBC and we've never had any complaints about the quality of broadcast from the Adtec equipment." Adtec's edje-2100 is a DTV encoder designed for satellite, cable, terrestrial and IP distribution systems. It supports high-quality MPEG 2 video and optional Dolby AC-3 audio. "Adtec is pleased that we are able to offer PIT an equivalent encoder at a fraction of the price," Adtec President, Kevin Ancelin, said. PIT also utilizes Adtec's edje-L, an MPEG 2 digital video player with QPSK satellite receiver, for turnkey satellite delivery services.
