NASHVILLE, TN – Adtec Digital will display its unique family of broadcast-quality, content delivery products during NAB, April 19-22, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. "We will offer hands-on opportunities to check out our scalable, cost-effective digital television delivery solutions, secure IP distribution and digital ad-insertion solutions," Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Ron Johnson, said. "We will also display an advanced compression demo, a side-by-side comparison of MPEG 1 and 2, Windows Media 9 and H.264 (MPEG 4 Part 10)." Adtec's satellite solution with the edje-2100 encoder, edje-3000 multiplexer, edje-L satellite receiver and Duet ad-insertion device, enables secure digital distribution. "Our satellite solution is a complete, encrypted, subscription management system," President, Kevin Ancelin, said. "It boasts live IP-based MPEG distribution, secure AES-based encryption without a smart card, store and forward media and schedule distribution via FCMP of local media switches, utilizing 'cues' injected by the edje-2100 Real Time MPEG 2 encoder." Adtec will display its multimedia products, enabling solutions for automated media distribution, playback control and playback verification. "We will introduce our new Soloist HD Digital Media Server at the show," Johnson said. "The advanced player and recorder is evolutionary because it features high-resolution graphic capabilities, scrolling text, video scaling and time delay capabilities and is unmatched at its price point." The S3DMS provides a massive feature set to service the broadcast time delay, play-to-air, local ingest, spot insertion and serve as a studio Real Time encoder with NLE interfaces, Tape Deck Control and much more. Adtec will also feature its edje digital video players in the multimedia area to display synchronous playback. The digital television (DTV) area will exhibit Adtec's edje-2100 RTE and edje-3000 Digital Media Router delivering an ATSC compliant MPTS to an 8VSB modulator and Zenith Set Top. Simultaneously, the edje-3000 will route the entire multiplex via Ethernet to an IP set-top-box. "This set-up allows us to deliver a broadcast simultaneously over IP," Ancelin said. "Our digital television solutions are mature and available now, delivering solutions for customers with a diversity of needs." Adtec will also exhibit digital ad-insertion solutions including Digital into Analog (DIA), Digital into Digital (DID) and Digital into Transport (DIT). DIT as a solution is new for Adtec, although Adtec helped author the SCTE 30 and SCTE 35 standards, defining the splicing of transport streams nearly four years ago. "The market demand is only now starting to ramp up to the point where a commercial solution is viable," Cable and Broadcast Sales Manager, Scott Pierce, said. Adtec's single-rack unit DPI-1200 Ad Splicing Server is ideally suited to serve the multi-channel cable market, as well as the broadcast market by interfacing with Terayon's Cherry Picker Ad Splicer. Adtec will also unveil its new Traffic and Billing Gateway Server (TBGS) at NAB. "The TBGS allows seamless integration with a variety of popular analog and digital ad insertion systems," Pierce said. "The real value of the TBGS is that it facilitates easy distribution and management of commercial content via a Wide Area Network." Adtec will also feature a number of streaming kiosks around its booth area, focusing on solutions for backhaul, streaming live TV using multicast, multicast with SAP/SDP and Unicast. One kiosk will exhibit how a wind-powered ISP can add Triple Play services with an edje-2000 MPEG 2 streaming encoder and an edje-1010 set-top-box. The Advanced compression area will be an in-depth comparison of MPEG 1, 2, 4, Part 10 and WM9. Adtec will be joined in the booth by MagicBox and their Aavelin RT digital signage and video messaging system. Adtec Digital is the world's leading manufacturer of MPEG2-based digital video players, single channel commercial insertion controllers and automated video control systems.
