Adtec Boasts New Technology Solutions at NAB 2005

NASHVILLE, TN –     Adtec Digital will exhibit new technology solutions for digital television delivery, commercial insertion and multimedia digital video applications at NAB, April 18-21 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Booth C2620.
"Adtec is designing new, advanced compression standards-based products and is continuing to mature our MPEG 2-based products to deliver more features, while retaining our hard-earned reputation of value and reliability," President, Kevin Ancelin, said. "Adtec is able to rapidly deploy a host of new system-level solutions because our vision embodies a forward-thinking product design. Our products are based on a lean, very efficient operating system, conceived and implemented with MPEG and networking at its core. This guarantees a stable, repeatable and forward moving path."
Adtec's digital television solutions offer full integration to satellite and terrestrial signals into DVB-ASI and IP services for direct-to-home (DTH) or enterprise delivery of multiple channels for IPTV applications.
"Adtec's new line of Digital Turn Around Media Routers, including the DTA-3050, DTA-3150 and DTA-3250, attribute to the ultimate DTV solution," Sales Engineer, Michael Bush, said. "All are equipped with Gigabit Ethernet and optional conditional access, and are ideal for aggregating MPEG 2 transport streams and IP data services for delivery to an unlimited number of viewers equipped with low-cost traditional or Ethernet-based IP set tops."
Adtec's DTV solutions support AES and DVB-CSA, conditional access (CA) and Adtec's new EPG server, an electronic program guide that serves as a middleware management solution and is an integral part for any Ethernet-based IP headend.
"The EPG Server facilitates interactive program guides or web pages for delivery along with programming through a multicast enabled switch network," Bush said. "The EPG Server is the marriage of our DTV and IPTV products and our Ad Insertion products to create a truly innovative, unique, value-added solution."
Adtec's commercial insertion solutions feature scalable architecture and seamless integration with other systems, along with ease of distribution of media and management data across wide area, satellite, removable media and PTSN networks. Supported platforms include digital into analog (DIA), digital into digital (DID) and digital into transport (DIT).
Adtec will introduce adCode, a media-ingest station fulfilling the function of a studio encoder, and interfacing with Adtec's Traffic & Billing Gateway Server (TBGS) to provide content to the entire interconnect.
"The adCode supports Cable Labs VOD and SCTE encoding standards and provides enterprise-level future proofing," Cable and Broadcast Sales Manager, Scott Pierce, said. "Because Adtec's commercial insertion products support analog switched, digital uncompressed switched and transport-level "spliced" insertion, we are positioned to support global broadband operators' ad insertion needs, regardless of their distribution method."
Adtec will showcase its next generation MPEG decoders, supporting High Definition MPEG 2 and advanced compression standards including H.264, VC1 and WM9.
"This new line of products will have a broad appeal across a wide range of markets, including production and post-production, entertainment, digital signage, surveillance, news gathering and narrow market television," Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Ron Johnson, said. "Adtec's multimedia products enable solutions for automated media distribution, playback control and playback verification."
In addition, Adtec will display its Private Video Network solution, boasting security and a unified IRD with the ability to support live TV, store and forward, local spliced ad insertion and full verification, all in the single-rack unit edje-L.
"Our PVN solution is ideal for broadcast operators aiming to regionalize local add inserts," Ancelin said. "It's also ideal for emerging private television networks that desire a re-branded version of a well-known program. Examples include sports and news in public venues."
Adtec's Soloist HD Digital Media Server will also be displayed at NAB. "Adtec Digital's commitment to continually developing new and innovative technology coupled with the twenty years of experience we have gained from delivering this technology globally to competitive and diverse markets, positions us to assume greater leadership in the industry without compromising our traditional value attribution," Johnson said.
