NASHVILLE, TN – GlobeCast, a satellite transmission and production partner for broadcast, enterprise and Internet content delivery, recently chose Adtec products to power six of their international DTH broadcast channels. GlobeCast purchased products from Adtec's edje series including the edje-1010, edje-2000 and edje-2100, as well as the Soloist 2-ASI. "Adtec's MPEG2 over IP to ASI turnaround, facilitates backhaul to GlobeCast's earth stations using individual or bonded T1 circuits with a single encode," Adtec President, Kevin Ancelin, said. "Using low-cost T1 Telco circuits versus ATM delivers incredible savings to the broadcaster." "Our engineers developed a mechanism to manage the data flow on the T1 by delivering MPEG program over IP to our Soloist 2-ASI, transcoding the program to a transport stream with all associate stream characteristics and quality to deliver the signal to low-cost DTH set tops." The edje-2000 is a streaming encoder that converts analog video and audio into an MPEG2 transport or program stream for IP distribution. "It provides all of the amenities of encoders costing five times its price and four times its size," Ancelin said. The edje-2100 is a DTV encoder ideal for satellite, cable, terrestrial and IP distribution systems supporting high quality MPEG2 video and Dolby AC-3 audio. "The edje-2100 continues the trend of providing reliability, low cost and high performance," Ancelin said. The Soloist 2-ASI is a broadcast-quality MPEG2 transcoder that delivers a DVB compliant single program transport stream from its hard drive or fast ethernet interface via ASI. "The Soloist 2-ASI is an ideal streamer for broadcast professionals," Ancelin said. "It also has been engineered for high reliability."
