As the world's largest open roof stadium, Amsterdam ArenA employs Adtec Digital's edje, Mirage and Soloist 2 digital video players in order to entertain and inform visitors. Amsterdam ArenA uses these players to distribute full-motion video promotions, commercials and other content to visitors via large LED displays outside the stadium and monitors inside the adjoining shopping mall. The Explore Center, also located in the Netherlands, manages the screens. The organization markets advertising spots, and present public service announcements free of charge. Adtec's edje, a hard drive-based digital video player and network appliance, facilitates MPEG and Bitmap audiovisual presentations without the need for a PC. The Mirage, a digital video player with a removable hard drive, is designed for professional multimedia applications. The Soloist 2 plays studio quality full D1 MPEG and balanced audio at encoded rates to 15Mbps. The 52,000-seat arena, home to Ajax and the Amsterdam Admirals American football club, features Europe's first transparent retracting roof, which cost $26 million to construct. Overall, Amsterdam ArenA cost $134 million to develop before hosting its first football match in August 1996. Stand 1.401 |
