Adtec Digital To Introduce Dual-Channel High and Standard Definition MPEG 2 Professional Distribution Encoder at IBC 2009

AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS — Adtec Digital will introduce a new dual-channel high and standard definition MPEG 2 professional distribution encoder at IBC September 11-15, 2009 in Stand 1.D01. Primary markets for the product includes private cable networks in hotels, education, medical, multi-dwelling and corporate cable plants and MSO cable television networks.
      The HDMI2QAM automatically detects two channels of video and audio via HDMI 1.3, encodes and multiplexes the signal into a multiple program transport stream with either DVB or ATSC table compliance. Video rates are automatically adjusted based on HDMI video input resolution, audio passthrough or encode and QAM modulation target. The HDMI2QAM supports ANNEX A, B, and C QAM modulation with an on board up-converter.
      Inputs include dual HDMI and Composite video. Composite is used for extraction of closed captioning or Teletext for insertion into the transport stream. Outputs include ASI, IP and up-converted QAM annex A, B or C, making it suitable for broadcast applications in any part of the world.
      For non-RF applications, the HDMI2QAM delivers ASI (75 Ohm source per EN500083-9) and GigE (MPEG2 or optional RTP multicast transport egress). For cable television applications, the unit modulates the signal using QAM Annex A, B or C and up-converts two video and audio services multiplexed on one carrier frequency for distribution via coax networks.
      Support for static program information, ATSC-PSIP or DVB-SI is a standard feature. Optionally, the HDMI2QAM will support Adtec’s DTVGuide web hosted SI server for complete and dynamic PSIP or SI guide information. Closed captioning, Teletext and emergency alert (EAS) are standard.
      The HDMI2QAM features a LCD front panel for status and configuration and browser-based control application for ease of use. The rugged, rack mountable chassis is designed with standards compliance in mind and can easily be integrated with other broadcast equipment.
