St. Mary’s Medical Center Turns to
Adtec Digital for Total IPTV Solution
|
NASHVILLE, TN -- When St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville, Indiana wanted to transition to internet protocol television (IPTV) with video-on-demand (VOD), the hospital turned to Adtec Digital’s Total IPTV Solution.
St. Mary’s envisioned offering a larger number of channels viewable by patients and staff any time instead of on a schedule. Channels include movies, children’s programs, patient education in English and Spanish, staff education, music, humor, relaxation and religious programming.
Adtec Digital’s technical team installed St. Mary’s system and and provided on-site training to the staff. The system includes Adtec Digital’s mediaHUB encoder for content creation and two Adtec Middleware Application Servers with IPTVManage and VODManage software delivering content on demand to a network of hundreds of IP set top boxes located throughout the hospital campus.
Bill Shewmaker, St. Mary’s Media Specialist, said, "Adtec Digital’s Total IPTV Solution is more convenient for patients and nurses who had to drag the equipment in and out with a VCR that sometimes worked and the [video] resolution was terrible. The digital system was a much better way to go especially with the VOD upgrade. By putting it on demand, the patient can choose when they feel able to view the programs and choose what is relevant to their condition at the appropriate time."
