UBITC Upgrades WTV Jordan with Adtec Digital Encoders, Decoders


AMMAN, JORDAN — Jordan-based Ultra Business for IT and Communications (UBITC) has upgraded the digital broadcasting capability of WTV (Watan Television) Jordan with encoders and decoders from Adtec Digital.
      Sayegh Group General Manager and Chairman of the Board, Michael Sayegh, represented WTV Jordan in their transition to digital broadcasting. Sayegh turned to UBITC Technical Manager Bashar Zaatreh, who selected Adtec Digital's edje5110-RM high performance MPEG 2 standard definition encoder and Soloist-HD Pro MPEG 2 and MPEG 4 AVC standard and high definition broadcast decoder for the project. UBITC chose Adtec Digital because of their experience with the reliability and value of Adtec’s products and Adtec's commitment to ongoing customer support.
      UBITC has previously installed Adtec Digital encoders and decoders with clients including Nourmina TV, Petra TV, Saudi TV, Comedy TV, JOSAT TV, Orient TV, the General Security Decorate and Jordanian Germany University in Amman.
      The edje5110-RM MPEG 2 standard definition broadcast encoder supports the most demanding distribution applications and can easily be upgraded to support encrypted or free to air SD 4:2:2 contribution platforms. The edje5110-RM has exceptional video performance, ranging from the lowest 4:2:0 distribution rates all the way up to 50 mbps 4:2:2 for contribution. Offering dual-stream on-board audio encoding, the edje5110-RM audio CODEC support includes dual Dolby Digital and MPEG 1 Layer 2 encoding plus rock-solid channel Dolby E/5.1 passthrough. Optional 4:2:2 and BISS1/E encryption features makes the edje5110-RM the perfect SD contribution encoder. User interfaces include an easy-to-use front panel interface and on-board web application server for configuration and monitoring.
      The Soloist-HD Pro high and standard definition MPEG 2 and MPEG 4 AVC decoder supports ASI, GIGE and hard drive transport stream decoding. Video outputs include D1(composite), HDMI with HDCP and HD-SDI with embedded audio. Decode MPEG 2 SD 422, HD 420, AVC SD and HD video. Audio decoding includes a single stereo channel of Dolby Digital, Dolby 5.1, MPEG 1 Layer 2 and AAC-LC audio. The Soloist-HD Pro outputs broadcast quality video with embedded stereo audio on the HD-SDI interface and to consumer monitors with the HDMI interface and supports composite D1 video and balanced analog audio are also supported for legacy NTSC or PAL environments. The decoder can down convert HD 1080i or 720 P to Composite or SDI. The Soloist-HD Pro is available in configurations that support either live streaming or stored playback.
