| Flying Cow Satellite Services Brings 2010 Rose Parade to Univision Network in High Definition with Adtec Digital mediaHUB-HD Pro Encoder
|
PASADENA, CALIFORNIA - On Friday, January 1, 2010, millions of spectators around the world celebrated the New Year with the 121st Rose Parade themed "2010: A Cut Above the Rest." Flying Cow Satellite Services brought a live, high-definition transmission of the parade to the Univision Network using Adtec Digital's mediaHUB-HD Pro encoder.
Practically every January 1st since 1890, the parade, also known as “America’s New Year Celebration” has been a festival of flowers, equestrians, and music. Today the parade is viewed by an audience of hundreds of thousands and broadcast on multiple television networks to homes of Americans and citizens of the world.
Flying Cow Satellite Services provided transmission of the parade in 1080i HD to the Univision Network, the first high definition remote transmission for this network. Robb Murphy, Owner/Operator of Flying Cow, used Adtec Digital's mediaHUB-HD Pro high definition MPEG 2 encoder for this historic transmission.
The Rose Parade featured a rich variety of colors and textures, as well as movements from the equestrians and marching bands. All the floats for the parade were made from natural items such as flowers and fruits. The mediaHUB-HD Pro delivered this event in high definition to viewers’ living rooms, this created the feeling of being at the parade.
The mediaHUB-HD Pro is a real-time contribution-quality MPEG 2 high definition encoder. It is designed to support the most demanding contribution, ATSC, DVB and IPTV distribution and Cable Labs compliant VOD and DPI studio encoding requirements. The auto-detect HD/SD SDI video input eliminates the need for user resolution and frame rate configuration. It boasts dual stream on-board audio encoding of Dolby Digital and MPEG 1 Layer 2 audio with Dolby E and Dolby 5.1 passthrough support. Standard features include three ASI outputs as well as a GIGE output, AES3 Digital Audio, SDI and analog audio inputs and BISS 1/E encryption. User interfaces include an easy-to-use front panel interface and on-board web application server for configuration and monitoring. Unique features include a built-in confidence decoder with HD/SD-SDI, HDMI and D1 outputs and "Constant Capture" hard drive acquisition for studio, contribution and distribution applications.
Flying Cow Satellite Services LLC, based in Los Angeles, California, offers SD and HD digital contribution satellite uplink services. Flying Cow features two KU satellite trucks, SD/HD wireless camera systems, SD/HD MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 H.264 encoding, DVB-S and DVB-S2 modulation, and full service crewing.
