Nashville, Tennessee (November 18, 2011) – Taking the concept of mobile messaging to a new level, Continental Tires has spent that last year on the road displaying their 8-screen mobile theater exhibit at various trade shows throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Thanks to an Adtec Edje server and Adtec support technicians, spectators are treated to an awe inspiring experience, the Untamed Innovation Tour, featuring movie-like production quality video highlighting all the features and variety of tires that Continental Tires makes, presented in English, Canadian French, and Spanish. “It is a very dynamic, high-def presentation,” says Richard Hoggatt, President of Stage Directions, a Houston-based video productions company and audio visual rental and staging company in charge of making sure the exhibit would run properly. “When you watch the video as it builds [over the 8-screens] it is very unique, very cool. It is a complete walk-thru experience. Our show installation and programming from Adtec worked really well.” The media displayed on the 8-screen theater was created by the team at Impact! MediaWorks who hired Stage Directions to design the playback system for the eight high-definition ICD monitors of all sizes. Challenged with limited time to complete the project and get the exhibit ready for a large trade show in Las Vegas, so Hoggatt immediately referenced a current project he was working on at Sam Houston State University in conjunction with Rock Eagle Communications. At the university, Rock Eagle Communications had set up a multi-screen theater driven by an Adtec edje-4111 digital media player. He realized that the edje could work well for his project with Continental Tires and Impact! Media Works and decided to contact Adtec. Adtec Digital was instrumental in finding technology solutions to make the exhibit a reality. Hoggatt explains that each high-definition monitor is powered by an Adtec edje system with its own contact. With a single push button activated by a Continental Tire salesperson running the exhibit, the show begins across the multi-screens with an “artistic feel.” The edje-4111 HD is a digital media player for AVC/H.264 and MPEG 2 high and standard definition file playback and IP stream decoding. Whatever your source, the edje 4111 HD can automatically scale the content to match your output target up to 1080P60 for outstanding HD playback. The edje-4111 can easily be configured using the included web-based control application and front panel menu. Originally offered only in English, Continental Tire officials realized it would be helpful if the exhibit could play content in different languages as it would be going to additional tradeshows in Canada and Mexico. They consulted with Adtec’s technical support department. “They wanted a custom solution and we made one for him,” said Adtec Technical Support Specialist Jonathan Redford who wrote a program for the edje server that changed the unit’s playlist to play content with different languages. "By taking their existing files and allowing them to work in harmony, we were able to enable their system to perform on-demand to adjust the language as necessary. As a global organization, this opens up opportunities to help our Adtec partners expand their communications to a broader audience.” “They [Adtec Digital] have a fabulous tech department,” explains Hoggatt. “They do whatever it takes to do programming. They are very good at working through solutions.” Laura Aguirre, Impact! MediaWorks producer shares, “We were very pleased and grateful that Adtec engineers could help Richard accommodate our client’s requests.” Hoggatt shares that the Adtec’s edje’s are exactly what the exhibit needed by continuously working for a busy trade show exhibit schedule and being rugged enough to withstand vibrations of traveling in the back of a semi-truck. “It is a very reliable system,” he says, noting that while they purchased a back-up edje server in case a unit needs to be repaired, they still have not had to use it after a year of exhibiting. Aguirre believes “Adtec did a great job.” Adding, “I would keep them in mind for future clients should a similar request come in.” Hoggatt hopes to work with Adtec Digital again in the near future. “For installations requiring continuous operation, such as theme parks, exhibits or in this case a moving display, the edje system is a great product for this application – providing high-def video in a small form.” ### About Adtec Digital: With more than 25 years of industry experience, Adtec Digital (Adtec, Inc.) is a global market leader providing hardware and software solutions for contribution, distribution, studio, commercial insertion and professional video playback applications.
