Nashville, Tennessee (August 30, 2011) –Step into the lobby of the Blue Man Group Sharp Aquos Theater in Orlando, Florida, and your transformed into a world where art meets technology. The art is a tunnel of colors, lights, and visual stimulation all powered by the technology of Adtec Digital’s signEdje HD players. “I would categorize it as visually stunning,” says Marcus Gibson, lighting and video supervisor at the theater, of the display that plays on twenty-one 42-inch televisions running along a narrow lobby. “The content is abstract motion art.”

“It is really a creative way to introduce people to the Blue Man Group before they walk in to the theater without giving away the show,” says Gibson. “It introduces people to the way we view art.” Show attendees view clips of how the Blue Man Group uses paint to display its art. Such video as a Blue Man splattering paint on the two large focal monitors that then appears on each of the twenty-one televisions that surround the viewers, to a scene showing a Blue Man pouring paint from the last monitors in the chain that then rolls back to the focal monitors, the viewers are teased and interest levels are heightened to the show ahead of them. The smooth, continual transition of video from one monitor to another would not be possible without the technology that is the signEdje HD player.

About two years ago the Blue Man Group Sharp Aquos Theatre bought their first signEdje and now has twenty-two signEdje HD players running their display, with three more in stock for spares. “They’ve been great,” Gibson says of the signEdje. “It is so simple and easy to use the system. Overall it is a totally plug and play system. It is very easy to use from an operator stand-point.” Gibson adds that he really likes the playlist capabilities that the system provides as well as the ease to network configurations.

The signEdje is a digital media player for AVC/H.264 and MPEG 2 high and standard definition file playback and IP stream decoding. Whatever the source, the signEdje can automatically scale the content to match the output target up to 1080i60 for outstanding HD playback. The signEdje can easily be configured using the included web-based control application.

With as many as thirteen shows running per week during peak season, there are times when unexpected minor issues can arise, and Gibson is pleased with knowledge and accessibility of the Adtec support staff. “The support is awesome,” he says.

Opened in 2007 at Universal Orlando Resort in the former Nickelodeon Studios building, the theater is one of a handful around the world considered a Blue Man Group “sit down show.” Other such shows include New York, Chicago, Boston, Las Vegas, Berlin and Japan.
