Nashville, Tennessee (August 8, 2011) - There are two kinds of sports fans; those that like the live experience, in the stands and in the elements, and those that like to watch in the comfort of their home, keeping track of multiple favorite teams and games and various sporting events. These remote control hungry fans have the partnership between Adtec Digital and Mobile Satellite Connection (MSC) to thank for delivering their favorite team right to their home.

Mobile Satellite Connection’s eleven (11) trucks travel all over the United States, Canada, and Mexico to capture program content on everything from high profile races to everyone’s favorite football game.   The 14-year-old company provides uncut program content that is transmitted point-to-point to television stations; or in broadcasting terms, backhaul transmission services. Erik Kludt, technical manager of Alabama based MSC, explains that “Adtec (Digital) helps Mobile Satellite Connection provide broadcast quality television signals to the world.”

For the last four years, Adtec Digital has been MSC’s go-to company to provide encoders, decoders and multiplexers. Adtec Digital is a leading provider of hardware and software solutions for contribution, distribution, studio, commercial insertion and professional video playback applications.
“Overall when it comes down to it, I will not recommend to purchase an encoder, decoder or multiplexer from another company,” said Kludt. “We find Adtec is premier for customer support. That’s pretty much it in a nutshell. We haven’t had many issues with the devices.”

Mobile Satellite has EN81 encoders, RD60 IRDs, DTA-3050 multiplexors, mediaHub HD-422s and mediaHub Pro encoders. “Usually, when company officials go out on a job, they have a minimum of two encoders and a decoder in a truck depending on the size of the job,” said Kludt.  According to Kludt, one of the best features about the DTA-3050 is that it has 10 ASI inputs making it able to multiplex up to 10 channels compared to competitors’ multiplexers that only feature 8 inputs. He also likes the GUI on the EN81s and RD60s because it is an easy way to manipulate the settings on the devices.

Kludt discovered Adtec units when a large sports television network asked him to road test some encoders.  “Reliability is key,” said Kludt about needing units that work all the time. “Overall, I would say the reliability of these [Adtec units] is unsurpassed.  I wouldn’t recommend anything else.”

About Mobile Satellite Connection - Since its inception, Mobile Satellite Connection (MSC) has continued to pursue the goal of new technologies. Mobile Satellite Connection led the way in the movement from analog to digital, assisting several networks in making the transition. A few years later, as technologies changed, MSC was again at the forefront, leading the way as the industry made the move to HD. Not only was MSC involved in the early stages of HD testing and early adoption for live event transmissions, the company also pioneered numerous solutions including the first HD/SD combined transmission, the first HD/multi-path SD, and the first HD/HD transmission – and all of these solutions utilize a single transponder.
